💬 What is an influencer? How does influencer marketing work? How much does it cost? 👇

✅I often get asked about this, as Influencer marketing is huge!

➡Influencers are people with sizable social-media followings who can influence their followers’ behaviour as consumers. However, although anyone can be an influencer, the internet—like most things- tends to favour the rich, the famous, and the glamorous.

âž¡Not all influencers are human. There are Animal and AI influencers too.

💬How are influencers paid?

👉There are two primary business models when you work with an influencer.

âž¡An influencer is paid a flat rate per post to feature a product or service. This is known as a brand deal.

âž¡An influencer posts about a product or service with a link to a purchase gateway. The influencer earns an affiliate commission whenever a viewer buys the product by clicking the link or using a promo code.

âž¡Often, a deal with an influencer involves a combination of the two.

💬How much are influencers paid?

👉Because each influencer has a unique audience, a unique follower list, and unique engagement metrics, each influencer's marketing deal is also unique.

👉To give you a rough idea, an influencer with a following of a million followers might charge £5000 for a sponsored story on Instagram—a micro-influencer with 15000 followers, around £400.

âž¡Influencer marketing and celebrity endorsements are slightly different. Celebrity endorsements like Dandy's Landscape Supplies Centre and Dion Dublin typically involve a company making a more significant investment in someone. It’s hard to quantify the exact ROI for that. With influencer marketing, the ROI is more measurable through things like, shares, online conversations, etc.

💬How many followers do you need to have to be an influencer?

Influencers come in five sizes—nano, micro, medium, macro, and mega—depending on how many followers they have:

👉Nano influencers have fewer than 10,000 followers.
👉Micro-influencers have from 10,000 to 50,000.
👉Medium influencers have from 50,000 to 100,000.
👉Macro influencers have more than 500,000.
👉Mega influencers breathe rarified air: they have over one million followers.

✅All have their pros and cons. For example, Micro-influencers might produce more relatable content as macro-influencers may advertise a lifestyle that seems unattainable to many people.

💬What platforms are most popular for influencer marketing?

âž¡Instagram is the biggest
âž¡TikTok is chasing it down
âž¡YouTube is a huge influencer platform
âž¡ LinkedIn is a growing platform for B2B Influencers
